Who’s in Your Corner?
Running a business can be lonely. Caught up in the daily grind, it’s easy to lose sight of our potential. Both personally and professionally. Often, we need someone else to recognise that potential and call it out.
As a keen amateur cyclist, I train six days a week and compete in Masters gravel events. Earlier in this season, a few mates saw potential I hadn’t explored. They encouraged me to get a road racing licence. I did, entered a few races, and won them. It was a new enjoyable challenge I wouldn’t have tackled without their push.
Business is no different. Who we surround ourselves with matters. Greatly.
That’s why I recently started working with a business coach. He’s been encouraging me to stretch beyond my comfort zone as we dig into what I want the business to look like five or ten years from now.
If you’re still building your support network, don’t worry. It takes time. Start small: connect with a peer, join a business group, or seek out a mentor. The right people are out there, ready to help you grow.
As a financial adviser, I help my clients do just that. Step back, see the bigger picture, and align their financial decisions with their long-term goals. So, who’s in your corner? Take a moment this week to reflect on your values and vision. And if you’d like to talk about where you’re headed, I’d love to hear from you.
