Use Your Money as a Tool for Better Health
On Sunday my dad is boarding a plane to Lithuania. It’s not a holiday, it’s for a knee replacement!
It was an easy decision for him – he still has the energy and enthusiasm to live life fully, but pain has made even small things – walking long distances, standing for too long – more difficult.
Rather than accept that as the “new normal,” he’s chosen to invest in a quick solution once the problem was diagnosed this summer.
What I admire most is his attitude: he sees this not as spending money, but as buying back his freedom. With a new knee, he can keep travelling, keep moving, keep doing the things that bring him joy. At 82, he’s not interested in winding down – he’s interested in living well.
Sometimes we shy away from using money this way. We’ll happily spend on stuff and holidays. Yet when it comes to our health, we hesitate.
🟢 What good is a holiday if you can’t walk the cobblestone streets?
🟢 What good is a retirement fund if you don’t have the health to enjoy it?
My dad’s decision is a reminder that money is a tool that give us options – the option to fix what’s broken, to improve our quality of life, to extend the years we can spend doing the things we love.
