Over the years we have made a number of charitable donations but rather than continue on an ad hoc basis we are thinking of nominating one charity with a local presence for 2017. We think it would be good to make a meaningful contribution to one charity by donations and possible fund raising. We’d like to ask our clients to feel free to suggest charities which do good in the Causeway area and where money would be used ‘on the ground’ rather than disappearing into a black hole. I’m on the steering committee of Oasis Causeway and it is definitely on the shortlist as all donations would be 100% used in projects supporting local people on the margins and not swallowed up in administration costs.
We are pleased to be sponsoring Bann Wheeler’s Criterium cycling race in Coleraine Town Centre on Thursday 16th June. The other sponsors are Macaulay Wray Solicitors and Lindsay Ford. I’ll also be racing so I apologise in advance that you’d have to see me in lycra.
The event was first run in 2014 for the Giro d’Italia and will kick off again on Church Street, continuing through The Diamond, Queen Street, Millburn Road, Union Street, Brook Street and back into the town centre along Church Street. The pedestrian area will have barriers to keep spectators and riders safe. There are two races on the evening at 6.30pm and 7.30pm. It should be a great event so come out and give the riders your support.
